This week we continued with our provocation on our new unit “Where are in Place and Time”. The provocation was to survey the parents and grandparents about their past. The survey was used to analyze data using the PESTEL model. Students displayed immense interest which was evident during the discussions. PESTEL stands for Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental and Legal factors.  Nature Walk- Collecting natural resources/artefacts for the 'Nature Table' in our class. Students enjoyed in the mud kitchen(a new area in the loose parts playground) connecting with nature. In English, we had reading sessions on books called ‘How My Parents Learned to Eat’ which we connected with our AK strand on ‘Culture’. We started this week by visiting the area on the campus where we will begin with our class’ organic patch. Mr Venkat (senior school teacher) helped us to understand the different plants we could grow there. He also made us aware of the varied factors which are involved in order to have a smooth beginning and functioning of the organic patch. He provided us with a piece of land where we will have our own organic patch where students will get hands-on experience of growing different crops. This is basically done to enhance their understanding of the interdependence of biotic and abiotic components of the ecosystems. In Maths, we had different activities in centres based on ‘Place Value of Numbers’. Students were given an opportunity to explore different concepts such as the expansion of numbers, representation of numbers using drawing as a medium (Base 10 blocks), writing the numbers in word form, face value and place value of numbers.
