Field Trip and Other Updates of the Week

This week's highlight was our field trip. We went to Charminar to start with and then to Salar Jung Museum followed by Nizam's Museum. Students enjoyed the fun trip and came back with a lot of learning and excitement. This field trip was arranged to enhance their understanding of our local heritage and to know more about the city of pearls- our very own “Hyderabad”.








For Maths, students continued to work in pairs to research more about the strategies of addition and subtraction. This time, they also came up with examples to display their understanding. 






Organic patch shooting up

In English, Ms Robin read a book called” If you give a mouse a cookie”, chosen by one of the students like every week. But, this time the follow-up activities were pretty interesting. She gave four options to students out of which they had to choose any one. Students picked their favourite activity out of the following options:
Recreate the story using any other animal and change verbs and adjectives.
Create a “Circle Story”.
Recreate the board game available on the last page of the book.
Create a freeze-frame on a paper using illustrations. 











Mindfulness session in the class

On Friday, we had Ms Juleen (Master teacher) with us who conducted a session on 'Annotation of the text' for Grade 3 students. It was a delightful experience to observe students showing immense enthusiasm to learn this art. Thank you Ms Juleen :) 










This week's Friday Enrichment Activity was 'Maths Mela', conducted by Grade 5 students.





Some students created a diorama for their first formative assessment on ‘Ecosystems’. Some chose to research after formulating questions and some students chose to illustrate to show their understanding of the components of ecosystems.

Short and Sweet Week

Though this was only a ‘three days’ week, it still has some exciting things to share with you all. Students went on a nature walk and were guided to collect three artefacts from nature. After they came back the students were provided with some questions to reflect on by the teacher. Students were given a choice to present their understanding either through writing or speaking (oral presentation) or by using any other ICT tools. This activity was done collaboratively with the other section. Students were also given a choice if they would like to work in pairs or be on their own.    Ms Sue (Dr Long’s wife) was also with us during a couple of lessons where she helped some of our students with their inquiry. Thank you, Ms Sue! Our reading session was done by Ms Robin again this week, where she read aloud some verses of funny poems with us. September-Week-3

Monday this week began with the assembly on launching the ‘Peace Week’. As we have the International Day of Peace on 21 st of September, Ms Latha, Ms Nivedita and I came up with some activities for the whole school- grade-wise and shared them with everyone through the assembly. Student council members helped us to introduce these activities to all. In ICT, students learned to create a timeline on an app called ‘Popplet lite’. They created their own life’s timeline initially. Later, the next day, they used the same app for their research on Heritage to create a timeline on ‘Rulers of Hyderabad’. The other centres were as follows:                 Identify shapes and patterns from the resource books provided and draw them in their books.  Research on the dressing style of people to compare and contrast east from west. Celebration of Learning and Talent

This month began with a bash and is continuing to be so much fun for all of us in Grade-3. Beginning with preparing for the 'Bazaars of Hyderabad' and to witness it coming into reality in both the classrooms was marvelous. The buzzing streets of the 'Bazaars of Hyderabad' was much appreciated by all the spectators and visitors. It was a formative assessment for the students of Grade-3 and students from Grade-9 were the assessors. Each and every individual who came to the bazaars were appreciative of the hard work our students have invested in these markets, may it be their research finding or their presentations. Right from the students in Grade-1 to Grade 9, adults including teachers both from Junior and Senior schools, parents, Ms. Latha and Ms. Chloe were all in awe.
