First week after the October break
Our
new term started with an assembly with Ms. Latha on Monday morning. Post which
we had a reflection circle outdoors. Students were all excited to share their
holiday experiences and the different places they visited during the October break.
Some of them also had bitter experiences of being sick as it was a time where a
lot of people were affected with viral infections. It is all part of our lives.
Anushka took an initiative of bringing an artifact related to one of the books we read earlier called 'How My Parents Learned to Eat'. She brought chopsticks and on asking she came up with two learning engagements for her friends. It was then connected with two genres of writing that grade 3 students have been learning- report and descriptive writing. Students were given a choice to pick one and write. It was interesting to observe how they were keen to finish this task. Followed to this other students also took initiatives to bring artifacts to the class the next day.

We love reading
Playing Hide and Seek' and 'Pretend and Play-Cooking' along with learning the estimation of the time. How long will it take for different participants to look for all the participants who are hiding? How long does it take to prepare different food items?
Reading aloud of the book called 'Charlotte’s Web' by E.B. White focussing on sensory imagery.
Sight - Father with an axe, conversation
between Fern and her father and mother, tiny pig, soiled sneakers of Fern, little
pig fed by Fern with a baby bottle and Fern’s tears rolling down her cheeks.
Hear- Fern running in the wet grass,
Fern sobbing, Fern yelling, scratching noise of the pig in the carton and Fern’s
footsteps when she went upstairs.
Smell- coffee, bacon, damp plaster, wood
smoke and wet grass (earth smell).
Taste- warm milk
Feel- wash hands, Fern’s cry, emotions of
Mr. Arable and the way Fern held the pig to nurse him.
Guest Lecture by senior school teacher Mr. Karthikeya on 'Shapes'.
Hands-on learning during the guest session
Students were provided with an opportunity to plan what structure would they make using the different shapes they learned during the guest session. They had to prepare a blueprint of the structure either on paper or on the floor. After planning and preparing, they presented their creations. This was done along with the other section students in seven groups.
Ms. Robin's session on reading was humourous because of the book's content. She brought in three elements from the book that focussed on rhyming words, alliteration and onomatopoeia. The book also provided an opportunity for students to learn new vocabulary. Dhriti was the one to find out the meanings of all the new words learned that day.
Our visit to the Golconda Fort and the Qutub Shahi Tombs was a successful one. We learned a lot about the history of our city's heritage and the roots of our culture. It was both fun and educational.

Students celebrated Diwali and Halloween on Friday in the last lesson. It was Isha and Ziyan's idea to collect flowers from the school campus without plucking them and make rangoli. Dhriti made a mask on her own from home which she got to show it to her friends. She also helped them to make one. Jannat, Vivaan, and Omav decided to create a poster on Halloween.
We had another guest speaker Ms. Kim- an ecologist from New Zealand who came to enlighten us on the environmental issues and the solutions to it. She also guided us on how to flourish our organing farming patch and on creating a 'Butterfly Garden'- its requirements and nurturing techniques.
