Child Rights
We started this term by sharing about our 'Christmas break'. Students love to discuss their experiences and we get to learn so much from each other. As each individual has a different set of experiences, it provides an opportunity for us to learn something new. While playing 'Duck, duck, goose', each of us got a chance to learn something new from one another.
Students were provided with an opportunity to share their research on Child Rights. They were provided with the time to prepare for their presentations. Some groups created Powerpoint presentations, one of them performed a skit, some had paper presentations and another one created a diorama. Each group had its own creativity to present their understanding of Child Rights.
With Ms. Louisa's help, students were able to create a song on Child Rights. The tune of the song was inspired, however, students of Grade 3 recreated the lyrics. Some of the students also played musical instruments such as Keyboard, recorders, metallophones and a drum to have music in the background.
We continue to read 'Charlotte's Web', a chapter book which helps to build vocabulary, listening skills, and language development.
In Maths, students were provided with opportunities to recall number facts of multiplication and division. Students were engaged in different activities to solve problems related to these basic operations.
Preparation for the Summative Assessment
Our visit to the Devendra Nagar School- Students created an awareness of Child Rights among the students of a neighboring school. They sang the song for them, created posters of the lyrics. They also created some placards related to each right in Hindi and Telugu to ensure understanding. We have collaborated with this school earlier and will continue to do so. This is also a part of taking action for this unit.
In ICT lesson, students created logos for each right and used Ozobots to move on them.
Assembly time
All the students participated actively during this assembly on Friday morning. Every teacher in the Junior school appreciated their performance. Our special thanks to all the specialist teachers who collaborated and supported us throughout the unit.
