February-Week-3

This week, students presented their understanding of the 'Procedural Writing' by sharing the recipes of their favourite food or the recipes of the food they could prepare on their own.
Students worked either in pairs or in groups to practice the conversion of metric units of measurement of length, weight, and capacity. They used centimeter rulers to measure the lengths in one of the centers.
In UOI, we have been focusing on the concept of change. Students conducted different tests to identify the changes and manipulation of materials.
 Solubility and Absorbency tests
How much liquid does each of these material hold?
 Ductility test and Oxidation process
In Maths, we started with the concept of Perimeter by measuring the borders of the 'Organic Patch'. The different tools of measurement used by the students were measuring tapes and rulers. They measured the patch's fence area using centimeters.
Students were asked to measure the patch, which they did by measuring the four sides. Later, we went back to the classroom to reflect. During the reflection, students came up with different measurements of the three different patches they measured. It was surprising to witness one of the groups who came up with the shape of the square. The group members mentioned that if its a square then we need to measure only one side as the other sides of a square are equal. Then, we also discussed if its a rectangle the opposite sides are equal. With this, students got the idea that the sum of all sides of any shape is the 'Perimeter'.
Students continue to display the same amount of enthusiasm for their sensory imagery novel 'Charlotte's Web'. Most of them are coming forward to take initiative to read-aloud and enjoy reading to their friends. While reading the book this week, we watched a peacock passing by. It was fascinating to see how students get excited and make connections to the novel's text with their real lives.

We also celebrated International Mother Language Day on Friday. Being a part of the Gujarati group, it was a good experience to witness students sharing poems, proverbs, and jokes in their mother language.
We also had a session on poetry with Ms. Robin on Tuesday. It was our last session with her as we bid farewell to her on Friday.
