Time Flies!!!

Last week was busy with Sports Day's practices and activities that we conducted for the students in Devendranagar school.

After observing different experiments in the Science Lab of the Senior School. This week we started with having to conduct experiments by our young scientists in the classroom. They were encouraged to research varied concepts that we have been learning and come up with their own experiments to enhance their understanding. The concepts that were covered by the students were 'Static electricity, Combustion, Solubility, Direction, Force, and Energy'.
Lots of videos were recorded while the students were conducting experiments and explained the concepts behind them.
Vihaan created cardboard slippers with reuse materials to add to the 'Makerspace projects corner'.
We went to the Science Lab again to observe the rusting of the iron nails which were immersed in different liquids to identify which liquid helps iron to stay away from rusting.
As we have been observing and conducting experiments on different concepts, it was important to have a direction for their writing. Below are the pictures of the provocation provided to students for Procedural writing. Students were provided with different prompts to choose, brainstorm, and write.
Further, they were provided with a recipe for how to make a pizza in the form of cut strips and were asked to arrange them in the order of their choice. We, then discussed what were the similarities between the two activities and what is missing in them. The next question was how could we enhance our writing. Students came up with responses and identified the genre of writing.
For our year-long unit on 'Ecosystems', we collaborated with the Creche students and created awareness for them on the following topics: The ozone layer and its depletion, air pollution, water pollution, noise/sound pollution, and soil pollution.

The joy of reading 'Charlotte's Web' continues. Students have also prepared some more games based on different chapters of the book. Games like a treasure hunt, spin the wheel, I have... Who has? and others. The focus of these activities was 'Questioning Skills'.
It was great to witness their creativity, enthusiasm, and collaboration during these learning engagements.
